Wicklow Gardens

Welcome to Wicklow, the Garden of Ireland.  Wicklow is home to some of Ireland’s most beautiful gardens.

Visit world renown Mount Usher, the National Botanic Gardens at Kilmacurragh, Killruddery Gardens or  Powerscourt Gardens, recently voted third best garden in the world by National Geographic!

Wicklow is also home to some amazing smaller gardens.   All are of outstanding natural beauty and diversity and each one distinctive in terms of mood and theme.

Due to the temperate climate, an unrivalled variety of trees, plants and shrubs await the visitor with many private gardens being open exclusively for this event (please check individual gardens for opening times). Garden owners are only too delighted to welcome and share their experience and expertise with the visiting garden enthusiast. A warm welcome awaits.

Wicklow 200 Cycling Challenge

The Wicklow 200 is a non-competitive one-day cycle ride that takes place every June and attracts over 3000 cyclists from many different countries. Established in 1982 the Wicklow 200, as the name suggests, covers over 200 kilometres around Co. Wicklow, taking in most of the famous hills that have made Wicklow a major international cycling destination over the years.

The shorter Wicklow 100 Challenge takes place on the same day, and shares most of its route with the Wicklow 200.

The Wicklow 200 is famous for its relaxed, friendly and welcoming atmosphere and superb organisation.

The event has been organised each year since it started in 1982 by the Irish Veteran Cyclists Association.

Taking part in the “Wicklow 200” (200km) or the shorter “Wicklow 100” (100km) is taking part in one of the best cycling challenges in Ireland. This very popular event which is on it’s 36th year, incorporates some of the most difficult mountains in Co. Wicklow  and the most breathtaking scenic roads in the whole of Ireland.

2017 features a new Start/Finish at the Bray Emmets GAA Club.

Along the way we will have water, food and repair stops at points to be confirmed. Also our roving repair vehicles who travel on the circuit are always delighted to assist in the event of a mechanical problem. At the end of the day you will be rewarded with a medal for completing the event, along with food, tea and coffee.
